[The egg-raising project is over, and most of the kids have either turned in the monsters they hatched to the Tamer organizations that lent them out or just kept them. Most of them also got... well, more impressive monsters. Kokoro, meanwhile, is still sitting in the classroom with. Well. Whatever this is oozing around on the table.]

I know people were talking to me about pets, but... what would I even feed you?

[That aside, finals are underway, and that means studying. Kokoro's been in here more often than not, and you can find her poring through books in the morning... or at night, having fallen asleep at one of the desks. Probably wake her up.]

[Katida is in the classroom for other reasons, as she's long since fallen into a fairly regular routine of just running errands for whoever needs some extra hands whenever she doesn't need to be anywhere in particular herself, and she just got done dropping a few things off.

When she catches sight of Kokoro's blobby little friend doing whatever it is blobby little friends do, she stops and both she and the thing atop her head just stare at it for a few moments, before she hears the question being asked. She then turns her attention more toward the other student, while the dragon scar's red eyes remain fixated on the slime, continuing to stare like it always does.

Kokoro may only be asking herself and not necessarily expecting an answer, but she'll get a response anyway:] Have you tried seeing how it reacts to any food presented to it?

[She rummages in her bag and sets half a granola bar on the table. The slime wiggles over and looks at it like it's trying to figure out what it is.]

Maybe I should just take it to the dining hall to see what it wants.

Ah...

[Yeah, falling asleep here of all places is not a great idea.

Lia tucks her own books under one arm and approaches Kokoro to gently shake her shoulder.]

Hey, Kokoro...

Mm -- ah!

[She startles awake, flails a bit, and nearly falls off the chair. Clears her throat.]

Yes. Hello. Lia. My apologies.

Ah, careful now--!

[Oops.]

I was about to head back to the dorm. Want to head back together? It's getting pretty late.

[Kokoro checks her phone for the time, makes a face, and starts gathering up her books.]

Very well. You have my thanks. I have no idea how it got this late. I just really, really do not wish to fail any finals.

Well, you've been studying hard, I imagine time getting away from you isn't too much of a surprise.

[Lia shifts her bag.]

But I feel you. I don't want to fail mine, either. [Avert Nightfall only to fail finals... embarrassing.] Maybe we could get some of the others together and do a study group? Not tonight, obviously, but.

That sounds good. I'd assume everybody would be doing nothing but studying right now, when they're not sleeping or actually taking said finals.

Well, I do give myself breaks... Sometimes I'll need to not stare at my notes or textbooks for a while, especially if I've been at it a long time.

[Breaks are good! And important!]

I know. Everyone always tells me to take breaks these days, so I am trying... I swear.

Maybe using that time for something else productive could help?

That, weapon maintenance--[Not that Lia needs to do much of that herself]--exercise is never a bad choice if you don't overdo it...

Personal projects, if you have them, but that might just be me.

I'd suspect most people around here have personal projects, given the things that come out of the workshops.

I know not. Though now that you mention it, I wonder how much of the curriculum will be the same next year. Or, for that matter, the school itself.

Yeah, me too. A lot's changed, even besides Nightfall not being a thing anymore.

Plus, I can't help but wonder about new faculty, too.

That's true. It is inevitable more will come, at least to replace those who left once Nightfall was no longer an obligation. Though the thought is depressing, I'll admit.

[Whenever it was Kokoro wasn't looking, Puella had begun sticking all matters of food into it. Even a few nonfoods.]

[It maybe wasn't the most helpful, it was kind of fun; And educational! Even if it might've been turning the creature into a sticky pinata.]

[The creature bubbles and makes a confused noise as it takes an apple, half a granola bar, three types of candy, and a wadded-up piece of looseleaf into its mouth. It ponders it for a second, and chews... at least that's probably what it's doing. Kokoro looks over at it and stares.]

Are you sure that is good for it? I must admit I know not where to start.

Hmmmm....probably?

It wouldn't eat it if it was bad. ...I think.

[Was it actually eating it though???]

I hope so. [She watches it slowly try to eat this stuff.] I wonder what they eat in the wild?

Oh.

If we could figure out where it's from or what it is then that might help a lot!

[She starts leafing through a stapled handout, examining the various monsters pictured.]

It must be somewhere in the materials. I see a few different slimes here... this red one looks like it, but do they come in orange?

Red is super close to orange, so I would think so!
