my life took a turn

What: Part 2 of Vivi's player plot.
Who: Anyone who signed up here or has a reason/interest to go.
Where: A mist-shrouded village in the Outlands.
When: Late March.
Warnings: Shouldn't be anything? But i'll edit as they come up. I'll match your format!

A. Setting Off/En Route
The mysterious figure who visited the Academy a few weeks prior has come to take Vivi to a place where he will gain answers about his past. Looking a bit more battered than they did previously (though it's hard to tell, given their already bedraggled state), they're a little more open to the idea of company than they were before.

"A long journey," they instruct. "Make ready first. Before you go."

As Vivi's mysterious kindred promises, the journey is rather long - and secretive. It winds through lonely hills, alien valleys and shimmering rivers, where little to no civilisation of any kind seems to exist - but, at least, there's no real danger.

There's plenty of time to talk (and rest) on the journey. If all goes well, it will take most of a day before arrival.

B. Village in Mist
Their final destination is in a tucked-away valley, its hills blooming with flowers. The faint warks of strange Outlands birds echo through the fog. For those who walked in Vivi's dreams some months ago, the village that greets them - full of huts and mounds, and with pointy-hatted, cloak-wearing people who look uncannily like Vivi himself, but taller and larger - will be eerily familiar.

They're friendly enough, if cautious of outsiders. Vivi wanders among them like he's in a dream, not sure whether to be confused, hesitant, or delighted.

C. Ruined Factory
A dilapidated, broken factory, still wheezing Mist futilely in its attempts at processing, crouches on the landscape like a half-cracked egg. Machinery and metal scaffolding pokes out of its fire-blasted, broken walls.

It's a lonely, desolate place. But there could be answers, if you're willing to get your hands dirty; it appears a conflict of some kind took place here, and the place has collapsed in on itself from a combination of neglect and damage.

Or you could just be following Vivi, who has made a beeline for the factory regardless.

A - mingle

He's chosen to make most of the journey as the alligator, so much bigger than a natural one should be. Plenty big enough to haul supplies, provided someone else finds a way to make them stay in his back, or to swim a river carrying everyone so they don't get wet. Also, not too shabby in a fight. Much better than traveling as a bird, an easy target up in the sky.

It can go months without food too--he probably wouldn't have to eat until they make it back, which is a plus. God only knows what weird effects eating Outland critters would have on him. He just plods along, faster than one might expect and never tiring.

< Feel free to ride if you think you can hang on. >

B - mingle

Once they reach the village, he changes back to his less-threatening normal birdy self, checking out the place from the rooftops for a while. It looks so nice and peaceful. He has no reason to doubt it...

Eventually he settles down on a perch besides the others. < Pretty tough guys to be able to survive out here. They seem happy. I wonder if any of them are actually related to Vivi...? >

C - for Vivi

And with his mighty hawkvision, of course he notices Vivi leaving. He notices everything, he's always on alert. Perhaps stupidly, he's in the air in following instead of letting anyone else know.

< Hey! Vivi! Wait a minute, alright? >

He lands neatly in the dirt near Vivi, staring upwards. He can't be much more than a foot and a half tall--even the kid seems to tower over him, but he's used to it.

< I don't think you should go in there alone. Just in case, alright? >

Vivi is right. Of course he won't enjoy it. But it won't be dark if he becomes an owl and... surely he's strong enough to fight the fear.

< That's okay. Can't be much worse than sitting in classrooms. Besides, I'm pretty small, I don't need much room. Dunno how good your eyes are in the dark, but I think I'll go in as an owl. >
