my life took a turn

What: Part 2 of Vivi's player plot.
Who: Anyone who signed up here or has a reason/interest to go.
Where: A mist-shrouded village in the Outlands.
When: Late March.
Warnings: Shouldn't be anything? But i'll edit as they come up. I'll match your format!

A. Setting Off/En Route
The mysterious figure who visited the Academy a few weeks prior has come to take Vivi to a place where he will gain answers about his past. Looking a bit more battered than they did previously (though it's hard to tell, given their already bedraggled state), they're a little more open to the idea of company than they were before.

"A long journey," they instruct. "Make ready first. Before you go."

As Vivi's mysterious kindred promises, the journey is rather long - and secretive. It winds through lonely hills, alien valleys and shimmering rivers, where little to no civilisation of any kind seems to exist - but, at least, there's no real danger.

There's plenty of time to talk (and rest) on the journey. If all goes well, it will take most of a day before arrival.

B. Village in Mist
Their final destination is in a tucked-away valley, its hills blooming with flowers. The faint warks of strange Outlands birds echo through the fog. For those who walked in Vivi's dreams some months ago, the village that greets them - full of huts and mounds, and with pointy-hatted, cloak-wearing people who look uncannily like Vivi himself, but taller and larger - will be eerily familiar.

They're friendly enough, if cautious of outsiders. Vivi wanders among them like he's in a dream, not sure whether to be confused, hesitant, or delighted.

C. Ruined Factory
A dilapidated, broken factory, still wheezing Mist futilely in its attempts at processing, crouches on the landscape like a half-cracked egg. Machinery and metal scaffolding pokes out of its fire-blasted, broken walls.

It's a lonely, desolate place. But there could be answers, if you're willing to get your hands dirty; it appears a conflict of some kind took place here, and the place has collapsed in on itself from a combination of neglect and damage.

Or you could just be following Vivi, who has made a beeline for the factory regardless.

Though Desidera had opted to pack light, Gunvolt had chosen to make his preparations much more slowly and deliberately. Part of it was by nature he relied on equipment, and as such, needed to, but he was preparing more for unforeseen circumstances. Part of him still really didn't trust the guide, even if Vivi and the others did. The other was not knowing the nature of the Outlands that they were going to; there was a lot that could be dangerous for him or the others.

He carried with him a sturdy, thick looking backpack, magically enhanced. It wasn't something he owned, but looked like he probably borrowed it from the Academy. The amount of stuff he had shoved into it suggested that it was much larger on the inside than a mere backpack. Most of it was typical supplies; spare magazines for the Dart Leader, extra water and food and supplies for preparing them, and oddly, what looked like a runic gas mask.

Eventually, he finished packing and hefted the bag onto his back with a grunt.

"Ready to go?"

Part of the reason for Desi's own apparent lack of preparation was that she had no real need for it, not outside of food and drink; if anything happened while they were doing this, chances were pretty good that she would be able to adapt and use her power in whatever ways the situation called for.

When asked if she was ready, she made a sound of confirmation.

"You know I don't need to take much, and what I would be taking, you already have covered." She then eyed the backpack. "With everything you've put in there, though, shouldn't I be the one carrying it?"

"Nah, I got it. And don't worry, this isn't some macho front. The bag's actually much lighter than you might think. Bag of Holding. ...Backpack of Holding, I guess. The weight of what's inside doesn't carry over to my back."

GV smiled a little, shifting the bag on his back a bit to settle it for comfort.

"I know better than to not ask for help if I need it, especially when I know you're stronger than I am." And the way he said it showed his comfort in this fact. He's not even remotely bothered by that idea either. "But this is part of what I was training for too."

"Well, if you do need me to carry anything, don't even bother asking, just tell me." Same as always, if GV decided that something needed to be done, Desi would go and do it, no questions asked.

"And what about Monarch? Is she coming too just in case anything comes up where we need her help, or will she be keeping an eye on the room for us?"
