Monster Mash

Who: Moriarty, Grimm, Jolyne, Rex, Tobias, Sarona, Maya, and Sherlock.
What: Mission time! And this time, it's certain to be a THRILLER night! ...I'm sorry.
Where: An open-air concert in Austria
When: October 17th
Warnings: Potential violence/death depending on player choices.

[They'd all gotten the lowdown - there was a shapeshifting artifact, and the threat of an entire concert of humans becoming undead slaves to a musician too big for his britches and arrogant enough to think there's no downside to using something so powerful to his own whims.

So, of course, the Academy sent people out to take care of it. And, of course, Moriarty decided to take charge. After a thorough briefing - Though leaving out some information about the singer himself, of course, to test their intelligence gathering skills - everyone found themselves at an open air concert, packed full of an excited crowd as security and roadies began to set up for the concert.

...However, the security and the roadies look a bit...odd. That's eerily good zombie makeup, after all...

Playing the part of a beleaguered chaperone to these teens and young adults, Moriarty seats himself a bit away, giving a tired wave - all an act, of course, and told beforehand during the briefing.]

Go on, go mingle in the crowd before the show starts. Aah, where are my earplugs...

[Of course, he never puts any in, and his eyes scan the crowd as the students scatter, keeping an eye out so he can potentially swoop in and defuse the situation if anything gets especially hairy.

Go time.]

[ Rex employs his many hard-earned skills and also paranoia to keep himself abreast of the surroundings as he circumvents the crowd, closer to his selected target. The entire way there he scans and scans and scans some more- attempting to determine if he has any warding or particular defences in place that may jeopardise Rex's plan.

Which, incidentally, is to casually walk past and flap his coat in just such a way the guy vanishes into the Pocket of Holding he'd prepared for keeping the artefact in. There's no air in there, but if the guy is already dead, who cares? What there is is a lot of seals and barriers and all sorts to keep the roadie locked up, so Rex can steal his memories or work out a weakness or something. If Rex can pull it off, it'll be a blink, and you'll miss it vanishing act.

[ Rex keeps walking once he has added U.DEAD ROAD to his INV. Nothing happened there. No one saw anything; it's all normal.

Now then. Rex has refined his memory manifesting magic since the last time it was an event. Once he's tucked away in a corner at the back again, he starts casting. The spell is still sadly emotion-based, so he can't just go 'gimmie the memory of what the item is and what your weaknesses are!' That'd be convenient. At least he can watch them on the inside of his glasses instead of going into a miniature coma to live them.

So he picks the latest fear memory and the latest memory of satisfaction. Rex figures that'll give him this guy being killed and thus hopefully the nature of the artefact or details of the place getting set up, respectively..

[ Well, that’s unfortunate. Rex considers starting one of his signature vivisections, but Ekke would probably feel bad about not being able to teach him that lesson, so he doesn’t.

Instead he does his best to get a grip on the particular wavelength (or flavour or tone or colour or whatever you want to use) of the magic that’s animating the undead dude and if he does (or can’t) just ramp the temperature up in there to incinerating degrees. No use keeping him longer than needed.

[ That's the easy part done then. Rex starts doing the bizarre magical arithmetic in his head to come up with a suitable counter-spell and checks the group chat.

Being Rex he had actually expected things to be significantly worse than they first planned for, so he's not really surprised there's a bunch of daemons wandering around too.
