The doctor is still in. And also she isn't a doctor
Who: Bai Lin and others
What: Catch-all for August
When: August
Where: Around the school
Warnings: Implied offscreen naughtiness
-Office hours-
2-5pm, mon-thurs are the official times that Lin can be contacted by anyone who needs to talk to the school counselor. The reality of it, however, is that she will talk to anyone at any time who needs her. She is a sucker for a sob story.
Her office was starting to look a bit more lived in. Aside from the standard issue furnishings (filing cabinet, bookshelf, desk, chairs, etc), she had added a teapot and a bunch of varieties of tea, a baby animal wall calendar, and a small incense stick holder (currently not in use).
-Training hours-
Lin had promised several people that she would try to teach them what she knows, for various reasons. Either they wanted her help or she thought they needed it and had talked them into it. What she had NOT promised to do, despite what others might think, is to actually teach them martial arts. Her techniques could be alarmingly lethal and, in the wrong hands, could get a lot of people hurt. She was very careful about who she taught them to. Meditation and breathing techniques, however, were perfectly safe to teach, good for mental health, and legitimately the foundation on which a lot of other stuff was built. So technically she hadn't lied to anyone!
She generally met people in the gym at the Legionnaire Quarters, as she found the Mythril Cage to be too hostile looking for her preferences.
-Power hours-
Lin loved new experiences, but she also found routine comforting. It was how she had grown up. In the morning she jogged and meditated. In the afternoon she worked. In the evening she lifted. Back at the Legionnaire Quarters, but on her own time now, Lin made ample use of the weight machines. When you don't have a flame, or a magic crest, or a daemonic contract, you have to grab every advantage you can, and that means staying swole as fuck.
Who else uses their evenings to hit the gym? She's not here EVERY night, but she's here often enough that one might be forgiven for making that mistake.
-Wildhours card-
[If you got other ideas hit me up on discord or plurk, or just throw a prompt at me and I'll roll with it.]

[If you got other ideas hit me up on discord or plurk, or just throw a prompt at me and I'll roll with it.]

Wouldn't offer if I did.
[She strolls over to the weightlifting benches, casually leaning against a nearby elliptical machine.]
How much are you up to these days, anyway?
[How much do you lift, bro?]
no subject
Like...72? Which is almost as much as I weigh so that's pretty good, I think.
[She flashed Jail a lightning quick smile before lying down on the bench to get started.]
no subject
You know, so you can bench press me some day.
[What.]
[No one else was suggesting that, Jail. Please don't make long-term plans for other people before you even ask them.]
no subject
[Lin got a faraway look in her eyes for a moment, then blushed deeply. She LOVED the idea, but unfortunately Jailbreak was right. She was also four inches taller than Lin.]
How...much can YOU bench?
no subject
Don't keep track of it as much as you do, but I think it's around ninety pounds, give or take?
[So, in other words, a little more just by virtue of being larger, but less than someone with Lin's level of training would be able to do if she actually had the advantage of Jail's greater height and weight.]
no subject
[Quick mental math.]
That'd be what...a hundred and fifty or something in pounds?
no subject
[Jail looks delighted by this realization.]
Damn, you might actually be able to lift me, then- it's not that much more.
[Probably heavier than she was before she got to Daybreak, since she's getting proper meals instead of 'whatever I grabbed from the last gas station I stopped at' meals a lot more often, she doesn't keep close track, but still potentially not beyond Lin's range.]
no subject
[Lin looked down at herself. She had honestly also gained a bit of weight since showing up, what with not having to live off of the kindness of the formerly oppressed anymore. But it wasn't just fat she was putting on it was also muscle.]
Do you want me to try it?
no subject
Fuck yes.
[Let's be honest, there was no way Jail was going to pass up this chance.]
no subject
Hmmm...Maybe if you lay down on your side so I could hold your thigh in one hand and the other can go, like, in the armpit area.
no subject
[The shameless wink isn't helping, either.]
no subject
[Struggling not to laugh.]
But on top of me.
Not in a dirty way.
Just...come here.
[Lin lay down on one of the benches and held her hands out towards her.]
no subject
[Joking aside, Jail does seem to understand what she's asking and follows suit, carefully positioning herself so that Lin can get a good grip without accidentally shoving an elbow somewhere uncomfortable.]
no subject
[There are several awkward and accidentally intimate moments while Jail does get into position, but eventually she does. Lin took a deep breath, and then with a grunt she actually did manage to lift Jailbreak into the air!]
no subject
I mean, it'd make for pretty good cardio. Sure you don't wanna rework that routine a little?
[Jail seems genuinely delighted just to be here, honestly. A pretty girl is lifting her, she gets to tease, life is good.]
no subject
There's no way I'm going to get a normal workout in when you're in this kind of mood anyways.
[Though truth be told, after all that nonsense she was in no more mood to do a normal workout than Jail was.]
Timeskip as discussed.
[Some time later:]
See? [Jail grins, leaning comfortably back into the soft cushions of her hideously plaid couch.] Told you I had a plan. Check your pulse rate, I bet it's still going real fast.
no subject
I should leave you in charge of planning more often!
[She leaned over and snuggled up against Jailbreak’s shoulder.]
no subject
[What else is she for, if not making terrible choices for fun.]
[...Well, for snuggling, apparently. She's pretty happy with that, it's nice and comfy here.]
Probably good for you to take a break, anyway. You handle enough shit as it is.
[You couldn't pay Jail to take her job- well, okay, you could. But it'd have to be a lot of money.]
no subject
[She kissed Jail on the cheek, in case it wasn't clear who she was referring to. That thought spawned another, though.]
We're friends...right?
[That didn't sound doubtful. Obviously they were friends, but...she seemed to be working through something in her head.]
no subject
Uh, yeah? Pretty sure on my part, at least. Can't decide the other half for you.
[She considers Lin a friend, in addition to a nice time, but she's not going to make any hasty assumptions about what she feels.]
no subject
[How to put it? Normally she'd just put this feeling to post screw affection but she can't deny that it's been like this for a while now.]
Is friends ALL we are?
no subject
[Always an awkward one to have, but things tend to end up even more awkward if you try to avoid having it.]
I dunno. [It's an honest answer, if not necessarily the most helpful one.] I mean... do you wanna be more than that?
no subject
[Lin stared down at her hands for a moment.]
...I think so? Maybe?
You're irreverent and sketchy and you love provoking and teasing everyone around you, but you're also funny and clever and you never lose your way and I just feel like no matter how bad things get, as long as you're still cracking stupid jokes and just being you, maybe everything will be okay again.
no subject
In that case... [Jail reaches down and gently takes hold of one of Lin's hands.] I want that, too.
You're strong- not just the benchpressing kinda strong, but the caring about people kinda strong. Strong enough to be gentle. You're sweet and fun and I like being around you, and I wanna stick around for a while. If you'll have me.
