The doctor is still in. And also she isn't a doctor
Who: Bai Lin and others
What: Catch-all for August
When: August
Where: Around the school
Warnings: Implied offscreen naughtiness
-Office hours-
2-5pm, mon-thurs are the official times that Lin can be contacted by anyone who needs to talk to the school counselor. The reality of it, however, is that she will talk to anyone at any time who needs her. She is a sucker for a sob story.
Her office was starting to look a bit more lived in. Aside from the standard issue furnishings (filing cabinet, bookshelf, desk, chairs, etc), she had added a teapot and a bunch of varieties of tea, a baby animal wall calendar, and a small incense stick holder (currently not in use).
-Training hours-
Lin had promised several people that she would try to teach them what she knows, for various reasons. Either they wanted her help or she thought they needed it and had talked them into it. What she had NOT promised to do, despite what others might think, is to actually teach them martial arts. Her techniques could be alarmingly lethal and, in the wrong hands, could get a lot of people hurt. She was very careful about who she taught them to. Meditation and breathing techniques, however, were perfectly safe to teach, good for mental health, and legitimately the foundation on which a lot of other stuff was built. So technically she hadn't lied to anyone!
She generally met people in the gym at the Legionnaire Quarters, as she found the Mythril Cage to be too hostile looking for her preferences.
-Power hours-
Lin loved new experiences, but she also found routine comforting. It was how she had grown up. In the morning she jogged and meditated. In the afternoon she worked. In the evening she lifted. Back at the Legionnaire Quarters, but on her own time now, Lin made ample use of the weight machines. When you don't have a flame, or a magic crest, or a daemonic contract, you have to grab every advantage you can, and that means staying swole as fuck.
Who else uses their evenings to hit the gym? She's not here EVERY night, but she's here often enough that one might be forgiven for making that mistake.
-Wildhours card-
[If you got other ideas hit me up on discord or plurk, or just throw a prompt at me and I'll roll with it.]

Power Hours
[Normally she makes her own fun- parkour can get entertainingly ridiculous when gravity is less of a law than a suggestion- but since she's got access to this gym for free she may as well give it a try.]
Need someone to spot you?
[The fact that it also gives her the opportunity to potentially enjoy looking at buff ladies working out is, of course, just a bonus.]
[On the bright side, at least Lin can be sure she'd be paying close attention...]
no subject
[Do you see this, Jail? She's actually focusing on her workout instead of ogling people. That's called discipline.
And with a spotter she could get her bench press on!]
no subject
Wouldn't offer if I did.
[She strolls over to the weightlifting benches, casually leaning against a nearby elliptical machine.]
How much are you up to these days, anyway?
[How much do you lift, bro?]
no subject
Like...72? Which is almost as much as I weigh so that's pretty good, I think.
[She flashed Jail a lightning quick smile before lying down on the bench to get started.]
no subject
You know, so you can bench press me some day.
[What.]
[No one else was suggesting that, Jail. Please don't make long-term plans for other people before you even ask them.]
no subject
[Lin got a faraway look in her eyes for a moment, then blushed deeply. She LOVED the idea, but unfortunately Jailbreak was right. She was also four inches taller than Lin.]
How...much can YOU bench?
no subject
Don't keep track of it as much as you do, but I think it's around ninety pounds, give or take?
[So, in other words, a little more just by virtue of being larger, but less than someone with Lin's level of training would be able to do if she actually had the advantage of Jail's greater height and weight.]

Hello Tokidoki. Who’s your friend?
no subject
[Marcel gives Lin a nod, but that's his only acknowledgement.]
He let me knock!
[Toki is far too excited about that, perhaps.]
Anyway! I came back because I said that I would, to like learn some breathing things or whatever, because it hasn't been happening a lot, but like, I mean sometimes, I get too like- [There's some flailing hand motions.]- you know!?
no subject
Come in, then, and we can talk about it. Would you like Marcel to come in too?
[Or, she hoped to imply, would he like Marcel to wait outside?]
no subject
"That is at your discretion, ma'am."
[Toki slips into the office while the guard is talking. It's changed a little since he was last here. He flips through the baby animal wall calendar. So cute.]
no subject
[Lin bowed slightly but also closed the door in Marcel's face, then turned to Tokidoki.]
So is he to protect you from others or to protect others from you?
[August was an ostrich chick rolling around in the dirt. September seemed to be a golden retrieve puppy sleeping next to a piglet of about equal size, but Lin hadn't looked ahead to see it yet. She liked being surprised from month to month.]

Office hours, because this disaster
But she also knew, deep down, that there was other shit to work on and she sure as fuck did not like to talk about things that she had absolutely no control over. Hopefully Lin gets that door soon as she's really about two seconds away from bolting.]
no subject
Oh, Jolyne! What can I do for you?
no subject
July was kinda rough and I... guess I should update you on some shit? Dunno how this shit works, exactly. Still.

I guess that's the whole point of this, huh.

[Lin took the other chair and sat down with her fingers laced together and her elbows resting on her knees.]
You said July was tough for you?

Training hours and oh god I meant to tag this ages ago
(Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea at some point, but right now, she was more focused on keeping her stresses in check.)
Lia's pretty chipper as she shows up at the gym, her smile as bright as usual.]
Hello!

[She patted the gym mat next to her where she was sitting. She didn't know Lia very well at all, and hoped to get a bit more out of her tonight.]

I've been enjoying summer as best as I can. Getting some reading done, playing games, spending a lot of time at the pool here... I'm realizing there's so much I want to experience here. It's kind of dizzying sometimes.

Most of the people who come to talk to me have something worrying them. Are you doing alright, Lia?
