Who: Yuya and you
When: First week or so of October
Where: Around Campus
What: Yuya deals with the consequences of trying to kill people in a fae-induced haze.
Warnings: Trauma talk about violence, attempted murder, etc. Bullying??
[Face the Music]
[The year doesn't start like the others. The horror of what Yuya's done during the night of the Hunt sets in quickly--all the people he terrorized and hurt before he was pulled from it. Targetting his friends, dragging Odd-Eyes into a frenzy through his connection--so he doesn't make it to classes his first week back, so sick with himself.
But he can't hide forever. On the first of October he trudges through the halls to class, strangling his book bag in his arms with his head held down.
The whispers start in the hallway, but it isn't until he sits down at his desk and he looks up that he realizes how... wary some people are. Quick, nervous glances pointed his way and switching seats to put distance between them until he's isolated by empty desks.
Yuya stares ahead, hands trembling, completely lost to his classwork as he counts down the seconds until he can run out of there.]
[Penalty]
[He tries to avoid everyone everywhere else. That's easier for his friends, whose habits he knows better to dodge the hallways they go down, their rooms or lunch periods. But he doesn't know everyone he pursued, even rememeber all of them clearly, and sometimes when avoiding the crowd he's blindsided.
It's the girl, standing next to a boy a little taller than her. The one with the shield, and she's one he does recall immediately when he sees her--her arm wrapped in bandages and a tense recognition locking her whole body up when they make eye contact. Oh, he'd certainly tried to kill her.
Yuya takes a step back, croaking a weak sound from his throat as he tries to speak. To apologize, even if no words are going to be enough. Maybe he moves too quickly, or the wrong way, because the boy lunges into action immediately. He grabs Yuya's arm and shoves him against the wall, and Yuya curls in on himself.] You--
I'm sorry! [Like sorry is really enough, and doesn't he have every right to be mad at him? Doesn't she?]
[Extra Curricular]
[He sneaks by the sign up sheets for clubs towards the end of the day, where he thinks he can miss most of the people. His name is already on there, of course, as one of the first in preparation for running the club for the new year. Right next to Nana's.
Yuya grabs the pen connected to the clipboard, setting it firmly to the paper. He hesistates, biting his lip... then slowly drags it over his name, back and forth to cross it out.]

class;
There might be a few murmurs from some of those other students, questioning her apparent refusal to move; is she stupid, does she just not care, or what?]
no subject
He blinks rapidly, then quickly turns away to shove his face into his book like he can hide from all his classmates. It's upside down.]
no subject
Not that he knows any of that.
The way he keeps trying to avoid looking at anyone, the way everyone else is avoiding him, and what whispers she does hear about not following suit herself, it all makes her consider speaking up, but doing anything that could cause a scene in the middle of class is probably not the greatest of ideas.
For now, it seems like the only real option is to wait it out.]
no subject
When the bell rings, he already has everything in his bag. But he doesn't move--he waits, head down for the other students to leave first.]

So, lad. Just what do you intend to do next with Mr. Sakaki?
[The professor narrows his eyes, and lowers his voice to a vaguely threatening tone. Ominous, dark. Not violent, but clear that there was a single right answer, and a whole bunch of wrong ones. And that Valvatorez was in no mood to suffer foolishness right now.]
Think carefully.
no subject
Nothing. [And then he points accusingly at Yuya.] As long as he stays away!
[And then the boy turns to march off in a huff, putting an arm around the girl's shoulders to lead her away.
Yuya bows his head, twisting his hands around the strap of his book bag to tame the shaking.]
no subject
His eyes then turned over to Yuya; who obviously looked beyond troubled.]
...Yuya. Are you uninjured?
[He doesn't ask if he's "all right." He's not.]
no subject
[Even if he did, it's only because Yuya hurt her first. He was prepared to take their anger.]

But the one bit of good fortune Yuya had when it came to GV, though, was that he wasn't exactly raring for a second round. In fact, he's in his school uniform, with no sign of his Dart Leader or any other weapon at all... though he did approach Yuya quietly, and deliberately.
Of course, he sees what Yuya's doing with the sign up sheet.]
...You know, she's not going to be happy about that.
no subject
... She'll hear about what happened. [Of course someone is going to go to the council president, tell her all about how her best friend went on a rampage. She might already know--he hasn't been willing to talk to her to find out. That's even lower than quitting the drama club.]
no subject
...Plus, he still wanted answers, but that could come in due time.]
Do you really think that'll matter? To her?

after a class;
This school is a madhouse. And James is going mad inside of it, he knows. He knew that when he practically begged a werewolf who'd almost killed him to stay with him. And he knows it when he chases Yuya down after class. Somewhere along the lines 'protect humans' has stopped cutting it. Somewhere along the lines all the weird and other has started mattering, mattering so much. ]
Yuya! Want to walk a bit together?
no subject
[Though he has a hard time understanding why anyone wants to be near him right now, even friends, he won't force him away.]
no subject
Mostly, James just wants to talk to a friend. But by accident, it's also a message to the outside, a statement by the council. Everything he says and does now is. ]
Of course I want to. I heard about the Hunt. Not details, but... that wasn't you - or your fault.
no subject
Still, he averts his gaze.] I don't think it's that simple.
[He can't just absolve the blame that easily. He should have been more cautious that the demon in him could take over. Should have been more honest about it, had precautions, anything.
And he still gave into it and hurt people. He was too weak to fight it.] I'm glad you didn't get caught in it...

But then there he is again, Tomato kid still looking like the saddest thing in the salad. He watches impassively at the little squeak, intending to move on. But the other guy makes a move. Looks like someone wants to make pasta sauce.
What a pitiful apology. He'd probably deserve it just for that. Oh well.
"Oh? Are we fighting? How fun!" He reaches out, grasping the other guy's arm and yanking it back. There's a feral grin and laugh on his breath. The girl calls out a name. He doesn't listen for it. The guy makes a noise of protest and he pulls that arm up just a painful bit higher. "What's the matter? You wanted to fight one of us didn't you? Unless you want to rethink that."
He lets the guy go, shoving him roughly away from Tomato kid.
no subject
"Did you almost kill her?" He gestures back to the girl, who's made no move to get closer. "Because he did!"
He gestures at Yuya, who flattens his back to the wall.
no subject
He sees the girl flinch. And that's before he lowers his sunglasses enough to show his eyes.
"So, why don't you use that brain for a second, turn around, and get moving. Lunkhead like you has a lot to learn so I'm sure there's a class you could be at. Unless you want to stay and fight me?"

Gently, his hand is over the other boy's wrist. Gently it presses as he stares the boy down.]
Remove your hand, now, [he states firmly, posture stiff as a board.]

Didn't do anything. [But he was gonna.] But is someone going to about people nearly killing us?
[Yuya turns his head down, gaze set on the floor.]

Still, when he spots Yuya removing himself from the club roster and confirming an identity that didn't need to be confirmed, he shrugs to himself and sets about quietly tailing him. Like a dick, he waits to make any obvious noise until they're in an open enough area outside where making an escape would be incredibly difficult, with no place to hide or obstacles to toss in his way.]
Yo. Got a light? [as he carelessly waves his pack of cigarettes. Help a guy out.]
no subject
N... no, sorry. [He tips his head down. He didn't make a habit of carrying a lighter with him.]
no subject
[This would be even more pointed if he knew about the whole Héctor mess, but alas. He can't go full jackass. His ignorance is Yuya's bliss, in this instance.]
That's too bad. What fucking good's magic school if I can't ask around and get some loser that can make flame come out their fucking fingers?
[He gets a cigarette out all the same, following it up with a lighter as he holds it between his lips. Yep. Not even gonna pretend he doesn't have one. He'd rather give a nod over to the sign up sheets.]
Pretty fucking sure you're doing that wrong, by the way.
